🇱🇦 LAO – Laos

🌙 2nd of August – Arrival in Vientiane & …Wait, This is the Capital?

Arrived in Vientiane in the evening and immediately thought: where on earth did I land? Capital of Laos? So dead.

Spent 3 hours at the arrival visa counter. Great start 😅

🍜 3rd of August – Still Not Feeling It

Still didn’t like the city. Had a chill day and grabbed some tasty food at the night market.

In the evening, Sofia & Sapphire arrived ✈️ Sofia was down bad with food poisoning so I didn’t see her at all — but Sapphire and I still enjoyed some beers 🍻

🛵 4th of August – Vang Vieng Upgrade

Off to Vang Vieng — so much better than Vientiane!

Met up with Tilli from my previous hostel, grabbed food, tried to rent a scooter. Everyone wanted my passport but found a sweet lady who accepted my German ID 💪

Then came the worst rain yet 🌧️ so… lots of beers at the hostel. Met Joe’s friends too — he told me, “If you meet any Irish from Galway, they’re mine.” Three walked in and I just knew 😏

🩴 5th of August – Lagoon & Slipper Hike

Morning lagoon trip 🌊 Then the viewpoint hike… in slippers. Everyone else had hiking boots. It was sketchy, but I made it 🙌

Got caught in another heavy rain and ended up chilling for an hour with the scooter guy 🤝

🍻 6th of August – Back on Track (Mostly)

Sofia & Sapphire finally recovered 🎉 We had a lovely evening, even got beers from some friendly Chinese guys… until they made Hitler jokes. Yeah… we left.

🚂 7th of August – Train to Luang Prabang & Knife Disaster

Took the train to Luang Prabang. Security took my knife — the one Franky gave me, expensive and sentimental 😢 Day was off to a great start.

New hostel was nice though, and I ran into Lasse from Vang Vieng. Rented a scooter and zoomed straight to a massage 💆‍♀️

🌅 8th of August – Sunset Cruise Magic

Sofia & Sapphire joined me in LP. Evening plan? Sunset cruise! Absolutely worth it — so much fun, pure good vibes ❤️

💦 9th of August – Waterfall Adventure & Compliments Everywhere

Waterfall day with Aussies Max & Luke plus Conail — a gorgeous 1-hour scooter ride 🛵 Met the girls there and explored together.

Laos became the land of compliments: from “coolest person in all of Laos” to “Boss bitch” and endless tattoo praise 🖤

Back at the hostel I met Tilli, Luke & Corey (Vang Vieng crew). They told me five people from our hostel had accidents while driving to the waterfalls— stitched knees, broken collarbones… yikes.

🛍 10th of August – Massage, Shopping & Boat Prep

Got another Laos massage, stocked up for the slow boat trip (yes, even bought a new knife 🔪). Said goodbye to the Aussies, returned the scooter, and enjoyed one last nice dinner 🍲
